On October 7, 2023, during the Reim music festival massacre, Shani Nicole Louk Hebrew שני ניקול לוק, a 22-year-old German-Israeli tattoo artist, was abducted by Hamas militants.

Hamas has since confirmed Louk's death, along with two other Israeli citizens, Amit Buskila and Yitzhak Gelernter, who were also kidnapped during the attack.
